Why we built this
Ecological footprint calculators can create a memorable “number of Earths,” but their questions often feel vague and their precision can look stronger than the underlying data. We wanted a calmer experience: one plain-language decision at a time, visible progress, honest defaults and a report that explains what changed the result.
EcoSi is not affiliated with Global Footprint Network. We cite its public standards and accounts because they define the Ecological Footprint accounting framework. Our current personal category model is an openly labelled beta scenario, not the licensed CLUM model.
Editorial standards
- Prefer primary sources: statistical agencies, standards bodies, peer-reviewed research and the organizations that publish the underlying data.
- Put citations next to claims and distinguish measured historical data from forecasts or nowcasts.
- State accounting boundaries and avoid comparing unlike figures.
- Use a named publication and review date. Update annual data pages when new editions materially change the answer.
- Never change a publication date merely to make old content look fresh.
Review and corrections
Calculator methodology and technical explainers are reviewed by the EcoSi Research Team. Product copy is reviewed for clarity and accessibility. When a correction changes a conclusion, factor or result, we update the modified date and note the material change.

Funding and donations
EcoSi plans to support this public tool through voluntary donations after users receive a headline result. The payment provider has not yet been connected. The current checkout step is a transparent test placeholder and does not charge a card.
