Clear enough to answer honestly

Good estimates begin with better questions.

Other calculators ask for numbers few people know. EcoSi starts with plain-language choices, offers real-world examples, and treats “not sure” as an average—not as zero.

  • One decision per screen with visible progress
  • Average defaults explained in the report
  • A scenario range instead of fake precision
  • Keyboard, touch and reduced-motion friendly

Transparent by design

Two measures. No misleading conversion.

Ecological Footprint and carbon footprint answer related but different questions. We calculate them separately and show what each result can—and cannot—tell you.

01

Global hectares

A beta estimate of the biologically productive area needed to support consumption and absorb fossil carbon emissions.

02

Tonnes of CO₂e

A separate greenhouse-gas scenario. CO₂e is never simply converted into global hectares.

03

Your uncertainty range

A low-to-high scenario makes assumptions visible instead of pretending a lifestyle estimate is exact.

Questions, answered

Know what your number means.

What does this calculator measure?

It estimates demand on cropland, grazing land, fishing grounds, forest products, built-up land and carbon-uptake land, reported in global hectares. It also gives a separate climate-impact scenario in tCO₂e.

Is this result exact?

No lifestyle calculator can be exact. Your result is a scenario based on self-reported answers, public averages and versioned factors. We show a low-to-high range and disclose the baseline in your report.

Why can’t my footprint reach zero?

Infrastructure, healthcare, education, government and other shared services have an unavoidable per-person footprint. We keep that floor visible instead of quietly assigning it to someone else.

Who is EcoSi?

EcoSi is an independent environmental-intelligence product. This beta is not affiliated with or certified by Global Footprint Network.
